Dear Hitchhikers,

I have a question that has been bothering me for months now.

I remember a scene from one of the Hitchhiker books that goes alittle bit like this:

Arthur (I guess) talks to an alien who says that the Earth was this very backwards planet. Arthur says, well, this is not true, we had plenty of amazing technology (like submarines, sandwhich makers, nuclear energy, televison) - the alien says: of that's interesting how does this technoloy work, can you explain or build it. Which Arthur, of course, can not.

So, I have been looking for this scene in all 5 books, on paper and digitally and can not find it anywhere.

Do you know it? Does it sound familiar at all to you? Or do you even know where it is??

This would be so helpful. I would defintely lend ou my towel the next time you go on a galactical hike!
