Cottington is the small village where Arthur Dent lives. It was described by Lady Cynthia Fitzmelton as a "little cruddy village," and then the "little country village of cruddy Cottington." However, the villagers seemed angry when she called it these, so it is likely they were not apt descriptions.
There was planning for a bypass to be built through it, but this never happened as the Vogons destroyed Cottington along with rest of the Earth.
Notable places in Cottington
- Arthur Dent's house.
Arthur Dent's house, as seen in the film.
- The pub, which is referred to in different versions as The Red Lion and The Horse and Groom.
- A station, which Arthur gave Fenchurch a lift to in So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish on her way to London.
