The Grebulon reconnaissance ship was the ship on which a number of Grebulons resided, remaining dormant and in stasis for millennia before being awoken by a meteorite hitting their ship. The meteorite destroyed many important data banks within the ship's computer, causing the Grebulons to lose their original mission information, as well as their memories.

The Grebulon ship was said to be huge and grey, and moves "silently", yet at a "breath-taking speed".
Within the ship was a semi-somnolent cyberbrain, which once housed the minds, identities, and memories of the Grebulons on board, as well as supervising programmes and the mission module. All of these were damaged by a meteorite striking the ship, impacting on the ability and functions of the cyberbrain from that moment on. The ship used to contain processing equipment to detect whether the ship had been hit by a meteorite, however this was ironically knocked out of that part of the ship by a meteorite, replacing it with a large hole.
The ship also contained Envir-O-Form machinery and LifeSupport-O-Systems, which were used to render the planet Rupert hospitable when the ship landed on it. There was also a Strateej-O-Mat to be used by a Chief Strategic Officer, however, after the loss of their minds and memories, none of the Grebulons knew who had been the Officer, and so this technology went unused.
The ship contained both Grebulons and robots, with the robots seeming to undertake most of the tasks on board the ship, especially while the Grebulons were in hibernation.
Only a few specific areas of the ship were described: the shielded strong room, where the backup central mission module was guarded, the ship's logic chamber, where the main cyberbrain was located, and the Grebulon Leader's quarters. The Leader's private apartment contained a waterbed, Midi hi-fi, a brown corduroy bean bag, and a lava lamp, as well as velvet walls. The ship also contained other Earthly technology, such as a green leatherette sofa, several television screens, and a microwave.
