The Holy Lunching Friars of Voondon claimed that just as lunch was at the centre of a man's temporal day, and man's temporal day could be seen as an analogy for his spiritual life, so Lunch should be seen as the centre of a man's spiritual life, and be held in jolly nice restaurants. The editors of The Guide picked up on this philosophy, leading to Lig Lury Jr never returning from his lunch break.

Trivia[]

This rather revisits Ford Prefect's assertion in the original The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that "Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so."
