The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Original Radio Scripts (originally titled Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Original Radio Scripts) is a book containing the twelve original radio scripts for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series (Primary and Secondary phases). This collection of scripts was first published October 10th of 1985 by Pan Books, who published other books from the Hitchhiker's series.
The Original Radio Scripts features the exact dialogue that was broadcast on Radio 4 for the very first time in 1979. The book includes amendments and additions made during recordings, details on how the sound effects were produced, and notes on the writing and producing of the series by Douglas Adams and Geoffrey Perkins.
There are also sections of information about characters and plots which were cut for reasons of time, and details about the development of the storyline, which include previously unknown pieces of information - such as the fact that Marvin was not originally planned to be a long-term character.
On July 26th 2012 a 25th-anniversary edition of The Original Radio Scripts was published, including new previously unpublished material rom the scripts.
