Zooey Deschanel is an American actress, model, and singer-songwriter. She played Trillian in the 2005 movie adaptation of the Hitchhiker's Guide.
Deschanel is known for her deadpan comedy roles in films such as Elf (2003), Failure to Launch (2006), Yes Man (2008), and 500 Days of Summer (2009). She is also known for being one half of the indie pop/indie folk band She & Him, and for co-founding the female-focused website HelloGiggles.
Her most recent roles include playing Jessica "Jess" Day in the sitcom New Girl (2011 to 2018), for which she received an Emmy Award nomination and three Golden Globe Award nominations, and as Bridget in the hit DreamWorks animation film Trolls (2016).
